We started our first service as SonShip on 4th June 2017. We started out as a Christian fellowship called "Tuesday Group" in 2002. God did great things through the fellowship, but after a decade, He led us into a new season. In 2012, we officially registered ourselves as a church under God's mandate to “feed my sheep”. The intentional shepherding of the broken in our small community became the major shift for us, transitioning from a fellowship to a church family.
In 2016, it became clear that we needed to focus more on shepherding young families, and so we made the decision to move our church service from a Tuesday to Sunday.
The name SonShip was birthed organically as our mandate became progressively clearer: we are to feed His sheep with the Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, who came to reveal the heart of the Father.
In this community, we want to feed and empower the body of Christ to rise up as sons and daughters of God, not just His servants. The world has been a gigantic orphanage since the fall of Adam, but through the Son Jesus Christ, we are reconciled in the love of The Father! The Holy Spirit we receive is the Spirit of Sonship in which we cry out, “Abba Father!”
In our church service, we care deeply about the Word of God, His presence, and the well-being of your soul; not how you dress or the tattoos you may have. You are free to wear whatever is comfortable to you. Sunday's best to us is not what one wears on the outside, but rather how one's heart is postured on the inside.
Finally, we want you to know that there is no perfect person in this church. We are a community that does not have it all together, but we are all discovering what it means to find life in Jesus. We are all on a journey to discover the love of Our Father, and learning what it is like to be sons and daughters of the most high God.
Come visit us and let’s fall in love with God together! He is worthy!"
Statement of Faith
We believe in one God, who exists in three Persons — the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He is Love. His Love is sacrificial, covenantal and holy.
We believe the Bible is God’s Word. It was written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, it points us towards Jesus Christ, who came to reveal the Father. It is crucial and essential in our understanding of who God is and a perfect guide to life and godliness.
We believe sin has separated us all from God, and that only through Jesus Christ can we be reconciled to God, our Father.
We believe Jesus came to reveal God as our Father. The fall of Adam makes us all orphans but the redemption of Jesus Christ makes us His children. We see the heart of the Father through Jesus.
We believe Jesus Christ is both God and Man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He led a sinless life, took all our sins upon Himself, died and rose again. Today, He is seated at the right hand of the Father. God and man is forever reconciled in Him.
We believe that salvation is the gift of God to man. This gift is effected by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and it produces works pleasing to God.
We believe that water baptism is an outward act that demonstrates a believer's identification with the death and resurrection of Jesus.
We believe the Holy Spirit is our Comforter. He guides us in truth and lead as in our daily life. He also blesses us with spiritual gifts and empowers us to yield the fruits of the Spirit.
We believe the Holy Communion is a celebration of Jesus’ death and our remembrance of Him.
We believe God wants to transform, heal and bless us to be a blessing.
We believe we are called to preach the gospel to all nations beginning with those around us.
We believe our Lord Jesus Christ is coming back again just as He promised.
